You’ve spent countless hours getting your story down on the page. All of your hard work deserves a proper introduction.

When your book is professionally designed, it enters the crowded marketplace with a high level of credibility. This strong first impression is often crucial to the success of your book, and a huge advantage you can’t afford to pass up.

A great cover draws people to your story, and a beautiful interior keeps them reading. Honour your book with the respect it deserves, and give your readers a wonderful experience from cover to cover.

Laura is a true professional. I truly believe her design was a huge factor in why my book hit the bestseller’s list. She is that powerful.

When authors and readers are on the same page, sparks fly. Just think of me as your matchmaker. Or you can call me Laura. (Nice to meet you!)

Designing books is my passion. I’ve got a knack for getting to the heart of a story and translating it into compelling visuals. With 15+ years of experience in the design industry, my expertise is your hidden advantage. I work quietly behind the scenes to create designs that elevate your work, create a lasting impression, and sell to your dream audience.

My work has been found on Amazon bestseller lists, on products sold at Target, Walgreens, Walmart and Indigo, in local Vancouver bookstores, and probably on a wall or two.

Laura was an absolute pleasure to work with! Her agreeable, intuitive nature and keen eye for detail made the final product the best that it could possibly be. Her ideas for the book’s cover and pages really made all the difference, ensuring that our book was one that we could be very proud of.

The Visualaura Story.

I’ve been drawing and writing since I could pick up a crayon. As a quiet and dreamy child growing up in small-town Saskatchewan, Canada, my idea of fun was collecting Babysitters’ Club books, writing lists, and drawing little icon sets of fruits and vegetables. Little did I know these small obsessions would serve me well later in life! As a teenager, I started taking my interest in art seriously by taking drawing classes, and I promptly fell in love and never looked back.

I earned the Applied Visual Communications Degree in graphic design in 2003, and the Interaction Design Essentials certificate from Emily Carr University in 2014. Over the years, I have worked in small agencies, large corporations, and as a solopreneur, exploring nearly every aspect of graphic design in a wide variety of industries. Recently I have narrowed my focus on print design, my first love. I am currently a trusted book designer with The Self Publishing Agency based in Vancouver, BC, and a graphic designer at Redstamp, a design agency based in Port Moody, BC.

Today, I live in Vancouver, BC with my partner, Neil, and our two cats, Dracon and Pixie. The work I do through Visualaura Studios is driven by my deepest desire: to bring order and beauty to the world through brilliant design.
